This Privacy Policy describes how ReadVid ("we", "our", or "the Service", available at readvid.online and through our mobile applications) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Service. By using ReadVid you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account information

• Google Sign-In: when you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account email address, display name, and profile picture URL from Google, used solely to create and identify your ReadVid account.
• Email registration: if you register with an email address, we store your email address, an optional display name, and a cryptographic hash of your password. We never store your password in plain text.

1.2 Content you create or submit

• Video URLs you submit for processing.
• Content generated for you by the Service: audio transcripts, AI-generated summaries, video titles, durations, and thumbnail/cover image URLs.
• Notes you create, edit, and optionally publish (including note title, content, cover image, and source video link).

1.3 Sharing and social activity

• When you publish a note, the note's title, content, cover image, source video link, and your display name and profile picture become publicly accessible via a share link and may appear on the public Explore page, together with view and like counts.
• Likes you give to shared notes are recorded to provide the like feature.

1.4 Purchase and subscription information

• If you purchase a subscription or credit pack, the payment is processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store your payment card number. We store your plan, subscription status, and transaction records needed to provide the paid features.

1.5 Usage information

• We keep records of feature usage (for example, number of processed videos and published notes) to enforce plan quotas and generate your usage reports.

1.6 Communications

• Service emails we send you (email verification, password reset) and any support communications you send us.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide the core Service: downloading the audio of videos you submit, transcribing it, and generating AI summaries and notes.
• To authenticate you and maintain your account.
• To provide sharing, Explore, view-count, and like features when you choose to publish.
• To process payments and manage subscriptions and quotas.
• To send essential service emails (verification, password reset). We do not send marketing emails.
• To maintain security, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot the Service.

3. Third-Party Services We Share Data With

We share data only with the service providers needed to operate ReadVid:

• Google Sign-In — authentication. Your use of Google Sign-In is also governed by Google's own privacy policy.
• OpenAI API — the transcript text of videos you submit is sent to a large-language-model API (OpenAI) to generate summaries. We do not send your account information with these requests.
• Stripe — payment processing. Payment details you enter at checkout go directly to Stripe and are subject to Stripe's privacy policy.
• Email delivery provider (SMTP) — your email address is used to deliver verification and password-reset emails.
• Video platforms — videos you submit are retrieved from their hosting platforms (e.g., YouTube, Bilibili). Your use of third-party video content remains subject to those platforms' terms and policies.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Google user data (Limited Use)

The Service's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google account data (email, name, profile picture) is used only to provide your ReadVid account and identity features, and is not used for advertising or shared with third parties except as described above.

4. Cookies

We use a single session/authentication cookie (or token) to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or third-party analytics cookies.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

• Your account data and content are retained while your account is active.
• You can unpublish a shared note at any time, which immediately removes its public share page.
• You can delete your notes in the app.
• To request deletion of your account and associated personal data, contact us at support@readvid.online. We will delete your account and personal data within 30 days of a verified request, except where retention is required by law.

6. Data Security

We use HTTPS/TLS for data in transit, store passwords only as cryptographic hashes, and restrict access to production systems. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information with industry-standard measures.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed on servers located outside your country of residence. By using the Service you consent to such transfers as described in this policy.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
